The award recognizes one exemplary Chapter President who has significantly impacted the performance of their chapter by leading with a combination of compassion, creativity, and innovation.

In 2022, Zoraida spear headed our chapter’s community involvement efforts. She was the driving force behind the chapter dedicating ourselves in lockstep with the values of SuncoastHR, HR Florida, and SHRM. SuncoastHR had one of its most impactful years ever! Over 180 volunteer hours; nearly $8,000 raised; and raised awareness of valuable causes such as SPCA of Tampa Bay, Clothes to Kids, SHRM Foundation, Feeding Florida, and Feeding Tampa Bay.

SuncoastHR with the leadership and guidance of Zoraida focused on initiatives to advance the HR profession through programming on current issues, government affairs, while supporting SHRM’s initiatives on inclusion, diversity and workforce readiness. SuncoastHR’s purpose includes providing a forum for the personal and professional development of our members. Our goal is to educate our members through programs on current topics relative to the HR Profession along with a focus on legislative attention to state and national HR issues. Zoraida worked hand in hand with our Program Director to provide topics relevant to the HR Profession for our monthly chapter meetings and annual conference. As a mentor to our Certifications Director, Zoraida (having been Certification Director in the past) ensured each program was submitted for continuing education credits and promoted SHRM resources to our membership for first time certification and for recertification. Zoraida pushed for development in the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion area, which we have struggled with in the past and now at each of our meetings, our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Director presents a Diversity Moment, highlighting an appropriate theme for the month. Being the giving person Zoraida is she is always the first to volunteer and encourages others. With the leadership of Zoraida, SuncoastHR provided innovative and relevant programming, education and networking opportunities for local HR professionals.
